10 Tiny Ways to Treat Yourself

neon sign that says treat yourself

Candy. Cancelling plans. Candle lighting. Plus, plenty of other little ways to brighten your day that don’t start with the letter “C.” Give yourself a break and a pat on the back. You deserve it!

1. On-Sale Valentine’s Day Candy

Huge bags of M&Ms for $2.50? You heard me right. This is time sensitive business. Your post-holiday window is closing fast, so put down your phone right this second and run

2. Cancel Your Plans

Going to work? Take a sick day. Seeing a friend? Rain check. If you’ve got plans go right ahead and cancel ‘em now. Clear your schedule and get ready for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

3. Take a Bath

Choose your fighter: Bubble bath. Tea or wine and a book. Peaceful playlist. Essential oils. Candles. Cold plunge. Whatever your in-house aquatic vibe is, roll with it. Your body will thank you for the attention.

4. Queue Up Your Comfort Movie

You know what they say, twelve viewings of When Harry Met Sally a year keeps the doctor away. (Don’t fact check me on that.) Pick a movie that brings a smile to your face and hit play.

5. Order Takeout

You ever get home from school/work/life exhausted only to be confronted by the haunting realization that you have to cook? Not today you don’t! Call in the troops pizza shop. Delivery, please! The warmer and yummier the meal, the better.

6. Go For a Walk

A little fresh air never hurt anyone. In fact, some say it helps. Get outside and soak up the (winter or summer) sun. Who said Vitamin D doesn’t count as a treat?

7. Pet Some Puppies

Pop by your local pet shop or (visitor friendly) animal shelter and give some good doggos a scratch behind the ears. Try not to smile.

8. Sketch or Color

When’s the last time you sat down and did a little coloring? Grab a pencil and some paper, some crayons and a coloring book. The only choice you’ll have to make is between pink and purple. Throw on some music or television and draw away.

9. Get Yourself a Little Treat, Literally

If you can, drop a few dollars for a treat: Iced/hot latte. Pastry. Ice cream. Candy. Or a non-food treat: Manicure. Massage. Haircut. (That last one you just might have had to do anyway!) Something sweet or fun to shake up your day.

10. Go to Bed at 8pm

If all else fails, there’s always a good night’s sleep. In fact… you might want to make a few extra hours of sleep more than a little treat. It’ll give you the pep in your step you need to conquer the day ahead.
