Affirmations for Difficult Times

When it feels like the weight of the world has fallen on your shoulders, sometimes the best thing you can do is pause, take a breath, and check in on yourself. Affirmations are a (research-backed!) way to boost self-esteem, motivation, and resilience. In difficult times, take a moment to speak aloud your appreciation for the person that you are. It’s like Sylvia Plath wrote: “I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.”

lawn sign that says "you are worthy of love"

I am strong.

I am capable.

I am worthy.

I am enough.

I love and I am loved.

I take care of the people I love.

I respect myself and others.

I am in control of my actions.

I am allowed to take up space.

I am allowed to rest.

I am allowed to ask for help.

I can make a difference in the world.

I will stay true to my values.

I will not accept mistreatment of myself or others.

I will speak up for the people and the things I care about.

How do you affirm yourself in difficult times?
